Frequently Asked Questions about Dog Daycare

How does Dog Daycare work?

Your dog gets the day to play in a safe and fun environment with other dogs while your away for the day. Just like you have fun with your friends, dogs love to hang out and play with dog friends. Our staff monitors and interacts with the dogs in three clean, open and spacious indoor play areas. We also offer a fenced, outdoor turf play area.

What makes Playful Paws a unique facility?

You want the best for your dog and we have it. We offer a trained staff that will do more than just “watch” your dog, we want your dog to be comfortable and entertained so they come home happy and want to come back to Playful Paws again. We offer the only facility in the area with a rubber flooring, which is gentler on dogs’ joints and play activities. The outdoor play area is also unique with a turf area in a fenced yard, keeping your dog clean and safe. Cameras also allow you to “check-in” on your pooch any day or time through a secure app.

Do you accept all dogs for doggy daycare?

We love all dogs, but we do require a “meet and greet” appointment for each dog before they come and play or stay at Playful Paws. This gives us a chance to see if your dog will be happy and comfortable here.

Meet and greet interviews require an appointment and give us the chance to find out more about your pooch and check for behaviors that indicate whether your dog will be a good fit for doggy daycare.

Please call 517.888.7297 or email us to set up an interview.

When are your hours of operation and can I drop off my dog anytime?

Playful Paws is open Monday-Friday 7 a.m.-7 p.m., Saturday & Sunday 8 a.m.-6 p.m.

We are happy to have you bring your dog any day of the week, however, we do request you call to make reservations so we can plan space accordingly. If we are unable to answer your phone call, please leave a message so we will expect your dog. Having an accurate attendance count allows us to plan for our day. Consider making a “regular” schedule so your dog gets into a routine and plays with regular weekly visitors to the doggy daycare.

What do dogs do at daycare?

They have fun! Dogs are social animals and there’s nothing better than spending time just hanging and playing with doggy friends. The day can include gentle wrestling, chasing toys, snuggling together, or just watching all the action. When dogs get tired or just want a break, they can rest in our cozy crates with cots elevated a few inches off the floor.  Trained staff monitor dogs at all times and interact with them in the play areas.

How do you make sure that the dogs get along?

Each dog is individually evaluated to see how they react to and mix with other dogs. It also allows us to get to know your dog and talk with you about any special needs or requests. Our three separate play areas allow us to see which area is a good fit for your dog’s temperament.

We do require an appointment for evaluations. Please call us at (517) 888-7297 or email us.

Do they go outside everyday?

We do our best to balance indoor and outdoor activities, but depending on the weather, we may not make it outside.

Can I check on my dog during the day?

Absolutely! You can follow all your dog’s daily activities through our webcam or call anytime to check in. We know your dog is a very important to you, and you may call to talk to us to see how the day is going. Your day goes better knowing your loved pet is getting special attention.
